Cracks appearing in upstairs outside wall. On investigation the roof timbers are hundred years. They are twisting and splitting plus purlins have sagged and split. There’s an extension been built 5 years ago joining the area of cracks in walls. House just exchange hands and the survey didn’t pick this up. Fitted 6x2 bracing along area where extension roof joins old roof plus it’s the area of cracks in plaster. This is a trial to fix problem as customer doesn’t want an expensive messy roof job. Personally the wall plate roof sits on has moved.
