The humble oil beetle is just one of a whole host of pollinators who go unnoticed in our gardens for the work they do, though butterflies and bees deserve the plaudits too of course! The more we can do for greater biodiversity the better πŸ¦‹πŸœ

As Dr Seuss said... (almostπŸ˜‰) 'A garden's a garden no matter how small!'

Whether you grow your garden in pots or window boxes, getting your hands in soil and keeping seedlings alive can be therapeutic for everyone.

The BBC Radio 2 Dog Garden at RHS - Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show has been all over the airwaves this week! But do you know what to take into account when designing a dog-friendly garden? Here's a few things to keep in mind...

🌸 Choice of plants matters! Certain flowers such as foxglove or the common poppy can be harmful to dogs when ingested. If you've got a nibbler, stay clear of these species or keep them supervised when they're nearby.
🌳 Remember to create shade! Beneficial for both humans and pets, create a cooler space with large foliage, bushes or a tree to enjoy lounging in the summer heat safely.
🐢 Texture is nature's own sensory toy! Use long grasses and tall flowers to provide height and interest for your four legged friend. It also doubles as a great place for hide treats for some extra stimulation. Our 'Shade Splendour' wildflower mix is perfect for this.

Have you got a favourite garden design from this year's show? Tell us about it!

No Mow May - do you take on the challenge?

Allowing even just a small area of your garden to grow wild can bring huge benefits to pollinators. Plus, who doesn't want a visit from a friendly butterfly or bumblebee? Go on - don't be tempted to strim!

The best thing about sowing wildflowers? It's just how little seed you need!

A generous pinch of 2-3g will cover around a metre squared, For a pop of colour in an average sized garden, you don't need to break the bank. Never mind if it's only a windowbox or a planter!

It's not too late to plant for flowers this summer. Get them in the ground this month, water them in well and you'll soon have beautiful home-grown blooms. 🌸

Whether you're transforming a windowsill, balcony, or a garden corner or allotment, our seeds thrive in spaces of all sizes. Just clear and rake your soil, scatter the seeds and lightly press and water before letting nature work its magic.

It's still planting season, but if you got your seeds in nice and early this spring then they should be sprouting soon. Give them plenty of water in this dry weather and clear out the weeds to give them space to grow, and you'll have beautiful blooms in no time!
