Planting spring flowering bulbs is always such a positive thing. A temperatures drop and nights draw in, its a reminder that spring will be here soon and brighter times. We’ve been planting different types of daffodils, lots of tulips, crocus, amongst others. They will look amazing in these containers so they can be moved around as they come in to flower.

Now is a great time to refresh window boxes, hanging baskets and containers. The temperatures are dropping but you can still lift the winter gloom with plants and flowers. Here’s the new window box full of cyclamen, violas and pansies for colour and some variegated ivy for texture. Also there are 25 iris reticulata bulbs in there too for some extra colour and interest in February.

Lots of colour on the stall this morning with some great indoor plants too - bright pink Christmas cactus and pale pink roses. Both perfect for long lasting colour in your house or ideal as a gift. Also lavender, pansies, cyclamen and primroses!

New winter window boxes at River View. The colder weather doesn’t have to mean empty, bleak gardens, baskets and window boxes - these pansies, viola and cyclamen will flower all winter and not mind the cold. And each window box has lots of iris reticulata bulbs at the bottom so these should pop up and give even more colour at the start of February. Let us know if you need a window box refresh!

The geranium jungle! Geraniums are fantastically versatile plants, not only do they look great outdoors with nonstop flowers from from spring to autumn, but they will continue flowering indoors over winter on a sunny windowsill or in a conservatory - ready to move outside when the warmer weather comes back. We have white, red and a range of pinks in between which will be heading to the stall from next week for just £3 each.

Begonias, gazanias and marigolds putting on a great show of colour on the stall this week. Make sure all your flowering plants keep this up until the end of the summer by deadheading every few days, watering when needed, and feeding regularly.
