The Christmas Lights in Hawes are maintained and improved each year by an enthusiastic and talented local bunch of volunteers. We are a not for profit group who want to support the community by creating a festive atmosphere for locals and visitors alike and give the children a day to remember. Every year, on the first Saturday in December, the lights are turned on and we hold a Children's Christma
s Party in the Market House. The party is followed by carols in the Market Place led by Hawes Silver Band and then (if we've all been good!) a visit from Santa. We hold various fundraising events throughout the year and are grateful to the Friends of Hawes Christmas Lights who so generously make donations every year to enable us to continue brightening the town.
