A part of me still feels slightly incredulous when someone not related to me is moved to buy art from me. Each and every one of these moments is remembered and treasured. Thank you to everyone who has visited the sale in-person at The Brothership in Hertford or those who browsed online.

We're now into the last few days of the sale. You can still find significant reductions online at www.brothershipstudio.com and www.lizloxtonstudio.com. There's just a limited number of works and only a few more days of the sale left to run.

You're very welcome to have a look, and iff you've been thinking about bringing a little art into your home, now might be a good time.

Nearly four years ago, I joined the tribe at the Brothership, a gallery and studio in Hertford, UK, joining a growing collective of artists of all kinds, each of us dedicated to showing our art and encouraging others to make art part of their everyday lives.

The Brothership is not just a place to exhibit. It’s a place where art becomes something we do now, not later - not later when everything else is done - but part of the fabric of our days.

Being part of this community has changed the way I work. It’s made me feel more connected — to the people who visit, to the artists I share the space with, and to the idea that creativity doesn’t have to wait.

I paint simply because I always have. It’s home in that sense. It helps me stay present. It’s a way of noticing and of communicating what I notice.

In the last four years, I’ve also discovered a love of teaching both one to one and small groups — figurative and abstract art, the mechanics and nuances of colour. Art is often made in solitude, but it’s often better made together.

If you’d like to hear more about my work, or to find out about learning opportunities and workshops, please get in touch — I’d love to hear from you.

And if you’d like to here more about one-to-one tuition, workshops or evening classes, please get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.

I've been revisiting a couple of my artworks lately - as I prepare a sales page for lizloxtonstudio.com

Both of them are larger works, both share a quietly theatrical quality.

The Dream sits somewhere between abstraction and narrative. Its scale, mood and colour make it especially suited to a stairwell, nursery or playroom, or as a confident, characterful statement in a family room or a contemporary space. It's a commitment size-wise: 150cm by 100cm. And it's on sale for £800, reduced from £1,600. Acrylic on canvas. An original work. Contact me if you'd like to learn more about it.

The Life Model is a figurative work that balances humour with vulnerability, touching on themes of anonymity and quiet labour. It reflects on the people we pass by — essential, present, and so often unseen. Based on drawings from a life class I attended a long while ago, this piece was selected for the 2023 Art2Life Online Exhibition by New York gallerist Anita Rogers. You can find it on sale on my website for £1,500, reduced from £1,850.

Every now and then, I like to make a little oil study. I love the quiet work of making a small painting that captures a little bit of everyday.

Perhaps it's to do with secret magic of 'things', possessions that carry a connection, a pull we don't always understand.

This Cornish Blue mug, isn't mine, but I love it and decided that it was time to commit it to paint. I hope you love it too.

Oil on canvas board, 6 x 8 inches.

“Amber Quiet” holds a sense of the season turning — warmth settling into stillness. The warmer colours that creep into the landscape. I painted it thinking of light across woods, the weight of comfort, the kind of calm that fills a space rather than empties it. There’s a solidity to that, a quiet you can lean into.

Ma Chère, is a gentle colour study. There’s a calm weight in this one — a steadiness beneath the softness. I wanted it to feel strong and tender at once — something that rests, but doesn’t fade.

'Whisper It' is a painting from early 2025 anticipating spring. It's a softly spoken piece, and began as a study in layers, exploring subtle contrasts, something that feels airy, but somehow grounded. I think that's what I'm chasing here: a softness that can stand its ground.

Acrylic on board, natural wood frame, 32.5cm x 32.5cm.

Evening Light

Acrylic on canvas, 12 x 12 in, unframed.

This painting came together in that golden hour — the one that makes you want to linger a little longer. It’s called Evening Light, and for me, it’s about loosening up, letting go, and being generous with the paint (and maybe with yourself, too).

There’s something in that soft, late glow that reminds me not to hold back.

What does evening light bring out in you? ✨

Lunar Sequence

Acrylic on canvas | 12 x 12 in

The moon occupies a strange place in my headspace. Real but magical, maybe.

This piece grew out of that feeling — the rhythm of light and shadow, the quiet pull of something both constant and shifting. Layers and small repeating shapes form the foundation of this piece.

A painting about cycles, reflection, and the beauty of returning light. 🌙

What does the moon stir in you?

Mojo

Acrylic on canvas | 12 x 12 in | Unframed

This painting unblocked me, recently. Hence the title: Mojo.

A lot of paint, a lot of layering, a little extravagance. What began with hesitation turned into momentum — colour finding its way forward, energy returning in unexpected flashes of red and warmth.

Sometimes a painting knows what you need before you do. ✨

What brings your creative energy back when it drifts?

'As the Tide Turns', acrylic on board, framed in dark wood, 12in x 12in.

In every turning tide there’s a paused energy — a pulling back and a sense of the surge to come. As the Tide Turns holds that moment of tension and renewal; a pause alive with motion.
Where does a turning tide mean for you? 🌊

So pleased with this latest collection. Strong and punchy colour-wise but calm too. Available to view on my website. Lizloxtonstudio.com.
