Welcome to the Canvas Awning workshop, where our production schedule follows the rhythm of the seasons.

Our winter jobs include turning wooden finials on the lathe, hand-splicing guy ropes, restocking canvas canopies, making wooden pegs and finishing pole frames.

Every component of our small-batch awnings is designed & carefully made to last a lifetime.

It all begins with lighting the sawdust stove to warm the space and switching on a good podcast or playlist…

New for 2025, choose between a pale natural finish for your wooden poles, or this smooth blackened finish.

Inspired by the Japanese technique of shou sugi ban or yakisugi, we achieve this by charring the outer layer of each pole, then brushing off the layer of soot. The poles are rubbed smooth with cloth and finally we apply 3 coats of pigmented oil, which penetrates deep into the wood, protecting it from the inside.

The result is beautiful & durable: a satin-like black sheen on the wooden frame of your Canvas Awning.
