Project Update | Full Build Conservatory

As we approach the completion of this prestigious project on the edge of London, this bespoke conservatory is revealing the intricate details that defines this unique David Salisbury design.

Designed to replace an existing conservatory for this locally listed home in a Conservation Area, every curve, glazing detail and proportion has been shaped to sit comfortably alongside the original building - creating a space that works perfectly in harmony with the existing home.

We were engaged on a turnkey basis, handling all of the build working, planning as well as the design and installation of the conservatory – this full build service is a totally unique offering to David Salisbury.

Project Update | New Kitchen Completion 📣

This newly completed kitchen in Buckinghamshire is the result of a close collaboration between our designers and the homeowners, with every cabinet line, storage detail and finish shaped through conversation and careful planning.

The brief was to create a room that felt welcoming yet highly practical, where generous proportions could be balanced with a sense of comfort and refinement.

Soft painted cabinetry frames the room and maximises wall height, while integrated appliances by and tailored storage keep surfaces clear and purposeful. The substantial island anchors the space, finished with a beautifully veined natural stone worktop that offers both durability and quiet character.

Layered lighting, from architectural ceiling spots to statement pendants, brings depth and warmth as day turns to evening, ensuring the room adapts effortlessly from busy mornings to relaxed evenings.

Tucked inside The Chelsea Gardener, our London showroom is designed as a working example rather than a display.

The domed timber orangery forms the centrepiece, finished in Halcyon Grey with sliding sash windows, while a luxury solid oak kitchen sits within the same structure so visitors can understand how extension and interior are designed together rather than separately. The setting is intentionally light-filled and planted, allowing the architecture to be experienced in a way closer to a real home environment.

Open seven days a week and shaped around personal appointments, the space exists to explore proportion, materials and detailing at full scale, whether you are planning an extension, a kitchen or both as one co-ordinated project.

An orangery designed to sit naturally within its setting.

At Mill House in Wiltshire, a former 1820s mill property with distinctive arched sash windows, the brief was to introduce meaningful living space while opening the house towards the mill pond and surrounding landscape. The extension was kept almost square at 5.7m by 5.8m, giving a 33.2sqm footprint that feels generous without overwhelming the original building.

Details were shaped around what already existed, from fenestration aligned to the house through to a castellated fascia that quietly references the architecture, while twin pairs of French doors lead directly out to the garden. The orangery also had to carefully meet an existing retaining wall, with the upper garden sitting around 3.75m higher, so proportion and placement were critical from the outset.

Planning and design were handled as one process and the scheme progressed largely unchanged, aside from a bespoke joinery colour chosen by the client, resulting in a space that feels entirely expected within the property rather than newly imposed.

Listed building projects succeed when the design works with the architecture rather than against it.

We have delivered more than 800 orangery and conservatory schemes for listed homes since the early 2000s, and approvals typically follow when scale, proportion and materials mirror the original construction.

Planning officers tend to favour timber structures and historically appropriate detailing, so the starting point is always the building itself, shaping the extension around its character from the outset rather than adapting it later.
