I’ve been a bit quiet on here recently; the lack of rain and searing heat has had a huge impact on my flower farm and we’ve been spending the past couple of weeks mainly clearing beds of dead plant material and prepping for next year.

However, on the positive side, there are still lots of stems available, including roses and dahlias, cosmos, strawflowers and nicotiana. My elbow dislocation back May led to not a lot being done that month, including sowing successions of the tender annuals; this is now having an effect on availability. Thank goodness for Flower Hub Gatwick! If you’re a grower with excess stems to sell, or a florist looking for beautifully grown flowers and foliage from Surrey, Sussex and Kent with the convenience of picking them up from here at Smallfield Flower Farm, do get in touch!

After two of the busiest weeks we’ve ever had on the flower farm, I’m afraid I’ve got behind with my admin and emails! You haven’t been forgotten if you’re still waiting for an invoice or a return email! I will hopefully be catching up today if the rain arrives as promised! 😊

I was so proud of this little group of gorgeousness, delivered to one of our insanely talented local florists this week. When choosing your florist, ask them if they use locally grown flowers - you can’t get better!
