A tribute to Nev Capstick
If you’ve had any work done by H&M Craftsmen over the past almost 40 years, then it is most probable it would have been fitted by Nev Capstick and Michael Robinson … aka Nev & Robbo.
Soon after H&M was formed, we were looking for just one fitter, but they would only come as a pair. So we took a chance, and both started together in 1989 being our Kitchen and Bedroom fitters until Nev retired in 2022 and Robbo a couple of years later.
Nev was consistently reliable, on-time, courteous, polite, quietly humorous and a skilled craftsman. He was always a very willing worker and would help anyone out around the workshop even if it wasn’t his job.
He never rushed, was always calm and regularly had time for a quiet chat to ask how everyone was doing.
Nev would drive the van onto site in the morning; Robbo back to work in the evening. Often, after a long hard day, the van would roll home with Nev taking a nap in the passenger seat.
It’s not easy having workmen in your home; and its particularly disruptive having your Kitchen refitted, but these are some of the comments which we consistently heard from customers:
· We enjoyed listening to their humorous banter whilst they were busy working.
· They are like well-oiled cogs each knowing what their job was.
· How pleasing it was to see they got on with no messing around.
· They always seem to know what they were doing.
· They were very respectful and easy to have in the house. Buy-gum, them lads know how to fit kitchens !!
· They never rushed but always got finished in time.
Not only does Nev leave his lovely wife Carole and family, but he leaves behind Robbo, his work partner of over 40 years.
We remember Nev with so much affection and appreciation.
