After Christmas, when all the decorations are put away, I always like to do something different in my living room. This year, in the early hours of 1 January I decided to move the furniture around in my living room! So while the majority of the nation was probably out partying, I was restyling my living room. A few days later I came across the beautiful rug (in the sale)and knew it would be the perfect addition to this space. I think it finishes it off beautifully. What do you think?

It’s the little things that make a house a home. I’m visiting a holiday let at the moment and it’s abundantly clear that this owner loves their property. All throughout the house there are so many bits and pieces, some large, some small, some old, some new that go to make this house such a beautiful home. I’ve let it through who gave us all the information we needed to navigate our way around the house.
Having a few days of quietness in such an obviously well loved property is a true blessing.

Thirty six years ago we were given our beautiful china tea-set as a wedding present. Cups saucers, side plates, milk jug, sugar bowl, spoon, teapot and other items. Mostly the set sits year after year in my cabinet but today was that occasion where it got dusted down and brought out for a right royal coronation.
China tea sets seem to have diminished in popularity over the years which is a bit of a shame as I believe tea really does taste its best in a beautiful china cup.
What about you? Do you have a china tea set? Do you love drinking tea from a china cup? Does your tea set get used regularly or does it, like mine, sit ever so sadly but elegantly in your cabinet from year to year?

I am loving this transformation by . From design to finishing touches I love every aspect of this project.
One reason I’ve never been a huge fan of period homes is because of the high ceilings. I’ve always associated high ceilings with cold and in my 90 year old home I’ve lowered a few of the ceilings to make it easier to heat the house.
But what if you have a period home which you love but need more space? Ever thought of using that extra height to create a mezzanine?? It’s a fantastic way of getting another room in your home like this one here.
In these days of working from home, how about using some of that space in your period home as a home office? The list of possibilities is endless.

Loving my fresh new living room. It’s amazing what a lick of paint and some new wallpaper can do to transform a space. Everyone who walks in says how lovely and bright it is and I do have to agree!

Last week I was through in Anstruther. For those of you who know me and this page, you’ll be aware that I think this shop is the absolute best for interiors on that side of the country. While I was there I bought a couple of the Illumens Fragrance] reed diffusers . I’d never heard of them before….they are a total and complete game changer and come in so many different fragrances! I have NEVER had so much continuous scent from a reed diffuser and whatever the secret is to making these, the company have hit the nail on the head. Currently I’m using the juniper and spice in my bedroom which is a most delicious scent. I’ve had it in my room for a week and haven’t yet turned over the reeds.
This is a huge shout out to this company, it’s not an add, they don’t even know I exist but I am a true believer in sharing good news and the utterly great news is that these Reed diffusers are FABULOUS

Breaking radio silence to show you this fabulous gift shop in in the East Neuk of Fife. I’ve highlighted this shop before as it’s my absolute favourite gift shop. It’s called and no guesses as to where I’ve been doing my Christmas shopping today! Utterly spoiled for choice and I also love chatting to Lynn who is the lovely owner of the shop. I love when I can give an honest to goodness recommendation and this is one of those of times. So when you’re near Anstruther, it’s well worth taking a detour and finding some gorgeous goodies in here.
So the burning question is….what do you think I bought?????

It’s been a while since I posted anything laundry room. And this perfect room from is a perfect example that you don’t need a huge space to create a separate laundry room in your home. Having a worktop in the room is a fab bonus as it can be used to sort out washing and drying items. And have you spied that pulley on the ceiling? Hanging up washing to dry naturally saves not only on mounting electricity bills but is also like set to the planet too. With the way our consumer prices are spiralling, I wouldn’t be surprised if more households resorted to the great old pulley.
