A hall, stairs and landing completed for a new customer in Fleckney leaving a high standard of finish using the correct preparation, procedures and products plus the use of my dustless sanding equipment, keeping it all mess free.
The scope for this project was to remove the wallpaper from the walls, inspect the condition of the walls underneath, repair or line as necessary and repaint in the customers chosen colours which were white for the ceiling and woodwork, Dulux Timeless for the top half of the walls and Dulux English Elm for the bottom.
It was clear from day one that when removing the wallpaper from the walls it was pulling the top coat of plaster along with it which was no problem for me to sort out. All the wallpaper and most of the top layer of plaster was removed leaving an intact base layer although a little chalky/powdery to the touch, this was then coated in a diluted mixture of PVA to seal the surface ready for the next stage. From one of the pictures you can see I used a bonding agent called blue grit to aid the adhesion of the new skim coat of plaster to follow. The walls were then skimmed with a fresh skim coat of finishing plaster making the walls smooth and brand new once again. Once dry the plaster was mist coated (primed) sealing the porous surfaces allowing the top coats of paint to adhere properly. Isomatt premium emulsion (tinted to the customers colour choice) was used for this project which has to be one of the most scrubbable paints on the market boasting a 20,000 wet scrub rating.
Meanwhile the woodwork was sanded, primed, undercoated and topcoated using my favourite brand of paint when it comes to interior wood - Benjamin Moore Scuff X. Not forgetting the ceilings which were inspected for pin drops, filled as necessary, sanded and then painted with a non reflective white matt emulsion.
End result, smooth surfaces, clean, fresh, sharp lines. A happy customer with the knowledge the work carried out will last and looks just as high quality.
