I regularly get asked if I am opening a hardware shop again in Langport, due to the signage I have put up in my shop. The simple answer is no. I moved into Victors in September, and I’m using the shop for my own purposes. It may be let out in the future, but not for now whilst I’m doing up the building.

The signage is from all three of the hardware premises I had, starting at Westover, then Victors and finally Cheapside. It’s simply a bit of advertising for my boiler servicing, breakdown and repair business. I specialise in servicing, fault finding and repair of boilers, control systems, Rayburns, Agas. Oil, Gas and LPG. Please note I no longer install oil boilers.

As of 3/5/22 I am back to work. I will be servicing oil, gas and lpg boilers and appliances, breakdowns and fault finding. Controls upgrades, landlords certificates etc. I will no longer be installing boilers. Please note new contact details, happy to arrange a visit by text or email, or of course telephone, but use my mobile if you can, as I can respond faster as the landline is unmonitored now, simply a home answer machine.

So that’s it, end of an era.. from when we were both cleaning the shop ready to move into it January 2015 to taking signs down today, and completing the circle with a final clean.

I started Langport Hardware 2011 at a unit in Westover, then moved to Victors for a few years, finally moving into cheapside. But really it was Jacqui Ryall shop.. she was always so proud when one of her Christmas window displays won top prize! Loosing this shop is a loss for Langport. Such a shame.

I’d like to thank all of our customers over the years, and in particular those that were so supportive throughout Jacquis illness. It’s been quite humbling at times.

So that’s it, I hope whoever the next to take on the shop does well.. it’s a happy shop..

Sadly, the last few days of our closing down sale, after 11 years we will close our doors for good Saturday, 1pm.

80% off all remaining stock!! I have no where left to put anything else, so I have no choice. I could find somewhere, but then I’d have to car boot it, I’m not a fan…

All shelving going cheap! All slot together, very quick and easy and very solid! I have some in my shed, 600 deep, 1350 wide. Multiple shelf height options. Can easily be put in a mid sized car for transporting, due to the panels and pieces they break down into. Till and counter available as well.

Shelving etc MUST be picked up next week.

Thank you all for your support over the years, a sad end to a good Langport business.

And a special thank you to Martin Hawkins and Stuart Dennes, who stepped in when Jacqui Ryall became ill February 2021. I literally don’t know what I would have done without you both!

Sadly it’s the end of the line for Langport Hardware… such a shame..

So, 40% off of every ticket price CLOSING DOWN SALE.. all shelving, till, counter etc will also be for sale, the shop will be emptied…

I will be back with Boilertec Heating in a couple of months.. need a bit of time to adjust and sort things out…

Please do share, there are some real bargains to be had, and a chance to stock up before it’s too late.

An update… my Heating business Boilertec will continue, but I need to have a few months off to reorganise my life, and adjust. But I WILL be back!

Shop sale; I have decided to drop the price to £10k all in which is about what I would expect to get if I liquidate the shop stock and fittings. That’s an existing business, Langport Hardware inc All stock and fittings. Even through all we have been through, it has never lost money, and with the right person could go back to its best! I just cannot continue with it any longer, so if not sold and paid for by 28/2/22 the closing down sale starts 1/3/22.

Oh and just to stop anymore underhand play by ’interested parties’ who really just want the landlords details so they can try for the lease, if I have to close the shop? Happy to give you his details, just ask! But 1/3/22 onwards please, as I would think he would give priority to an incoming tennant that wishes to continue with Langport Hardware.

I think it would be such a shame if the shop closes after 11 years open in Langport. If I was to continue, the obvious way to increase sales is to incorporate a proper pet food section, as there is a demand for that.

I’d just finished writing my last post, and with deep irony this popped up in my memories.. 7 years ago today.. Jacqui Ryall wrist was bandaged due to the strain of stacking the shelves after our move!
