Thank you to all those who sponsored me for the Chase The Sun 200 mile in a day cycle ride. I’m pleased to be able to report that I made it to the finish line about an hour before sunset on Saturday! Slightly sore and very tired from them experience but over the moon to have been able to finish it and raise some money for a great cause in the process.

Hi. As I may have spoken about with some of you, in what now seems a like moment of stupidity I signed up to ride a ridiculous distance of 200 miles from Whitley Bay to Ayr. Setting off at Sunrise from the east coast on the longest day aiming to see the sunset on the beach at Ayr in the Scottish west coast. Likely to be around 16 hours in the saddle, some of which I’m sure will be easier than others! We have decided to try and raise some money for a local homeless charity, Simon on the Streets. Another job in the sunshine! Sure my luck with the weather and outside jobs won’t last! Built a custom compost bin today to fit in a hidden corner of the garden. Client wanted a large double bin with removable fronts to allow them to be dug out. Built to last.

Been lucky to be working outside and enjoying some early sunshine! Raised bed built out of new railway sleepers and filled with 5 ton of soil/compost mix. My client is excited to turn this into a productive veg garden.

Get to do all sorts. On this one the client mistakenly ordered 5 bar stools too high to get your legs under the counter and the supplier wouldn’t return them. No panic, call the Handyman!

…this was a slightly bigger job. Full renovation of a 2 bed rental property turned around and new tenants in within a few weeks.
Full new bathroom, full new kitchen including tiling, additional radiator in kitchen, new internal doors, fully redecorated and new flooring throughout plus all the extra bits like new blinds, curtain poles, radiator valves.

Hi All. Been a while since I posted anything. Need to get better at sharing what I’ve been up to! This one was a client request to open up a space under the stairs at one of the new Woodside Vale houses which the builder had just blocked off.

Been on my first job at the new Woodside Vale Development this week for a lovely couple who’ve just moved to Horsforth.

Some of the jobs I’ve done:
- built in shelving to a cupboard
- slatted shelving for an airing cupboard
- blinds to most of the house
- put up coat hooks
- put up shelving
- wall mounted a TV
- mounted bathroom cabinets
- hung mirrors
- cut into the eaves and installed a sliding door to allow access for storage (next job to install fitted wardrobes in front of this and maintain access)

Evening folks. Went to a customer this week with a beep! It was quickly identified as a smoke alarm issue but instead of just telling her it needed new batteries, I took it down and checked the date. When was the last time you did that with yours? It was 5 years out of date! Did you realise that the chemical sensors in your smoke alarms degrade and typically only last 7- 10 years? The expiry date is normally stamped on the back. I checked and both alarms were years out of date and replaced with alarms with 10 year battery life alarms so nothing to worry about for 10 years and then replace the whole thing! Please check yours and share with friends and family.
