“No one tells you this about being self-employed…”

People see the van.
They see you busy.
They think you’re flying.

What they don’t see is:

The quiet weeks.

The cancelled jobs.

The customers who “will let you know.”

The 5:30am starts.

The quotes done at the kitchen table when the kids are in bed.

They don’t see the pressure of knowing
if you don’t work… you don’t earn.

I’ve had weeks fully booked months ahead.
I’ve also had weeks staring at the diary thinking,
“Right… what now?”

That’s self-employment.

It’s not glamorous.
It’s not always stable.
But it’s honest.

And I’d still choose this over fast money or shortcuts every time.

Because I lock my door at night knowing: My name is clean.

My work is solid.

And my kids see what graft looks like.

If you’re self-employed, you’ll get this.
It’s not easy.

But it’s worth it.
