What an absolute mess this Worcester boiler was.
Apparently ‘serviced’ regularly.
Although the customer said the case has never been off..?!?!
Had to initialy isolate and label as dangerous as combustion products where spilling internally.
Recalled this morning and carried out a full service with new gaskets and probes, flushed and cleaned heat exchanger and condensate trap.
Adjusted the gas valve and now burning like a new boiler again.
If your boiler is ‘serviced’ in 15mins it hasn’t been.

Called to service this Potterton combi,
This had allegedly been serviced by that national company in the blue vans….😳
Burner gasket had failed resulting in combustion products being spilled into the case affecting safety and performance.
Full strip and clean, new gasket and pump auto air vent, recharge expansion vessel as pressure was in the red at 3 bar. Also seal the flue internally.
If your boiler engineer carries out a service in 10-15 minutes, that is nothing more than a combustion analysis test. Which could result in boiler breakdowns and potential safety issues.
And that national company charge more than myself… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Called out to an emergency leak, a rare occurrence when i could attend immediately.
Diagnosed pinholed manifold on this Worcester boiler. Isolated and made safe, returned within 24hrs with new part.
All sorted, heating, hot water and happy customer. (Apart from the damp carpet)

Full strip down on a WorcesterBosch heat only boiler, remove and clean baffles, flush heat exchanger, new burner seals and probes. Look at all the scale accumulating on baffle, glad i carry white vinegar for this exact reason, it breaks down the scale making removal and cleaning possible.
All looking good for a 8 y/o boiler that had never been done😳.

Disaster narrowly avoided on this one. The old gate valve completely sheared off as i went to turn it, with 2 full tanks...

Disaster narrowly avoided on this one. The old gate valve completely sheared off as i went to turn it, with 2 full tanks of stored water above, leaving me holding the water back….
Very greatful to an old colleague and friend who was able to come to the rescue.
All was smooth after this issue.
Old inset leaking shower replaced with an Aqualisa bar shower and new shower panel.
Something to suit all budgets.

An old seized inset shower valve replaced with a new Aqualisa bar shower (5yr warranty) new grab rail and some mosaic tiles as no match for the old existing tiles could be found. Happy customer.
