Cookery Leader Training - 24th & 25th September in Lewes

Our Cookery Leader Training is a practical and inspiring two-day 'Train the Trainer' programme designed for community members, volunteers, practitioners, community workers, and anyone interested in using food as a tool for positive change.

Are you passionate about good food, cooking, health and community wellbeing? Would you like to help others develop the confidence and skills to cook healthy, affordable meals while strengthening connections within your community?

This hands-on training will equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to establish and lead cookery courses, community food projects, cooking clubs, and food-based social enterprises within your local area.

There's still space on the Knife Skills Cooking for Carers workshop on Thursday 3rd September in Uckfield.

A previous attendee commented after the workshop that:

'Better knife skills have made life easier – just changing the technique and using the right knife. I look forward to cooking now; it’s not a chore anymore. I think, actually, you can!'

Africa Day in Lewes at The Sheds, Phoenix Place on Sunday 31st May 12-6.

Join us for a free, family friendly celebration of African culture, food, music and dance.

Community Chef will be preparing and sharing a feast of pan African food with a little help from the community.

Guests are welcome to bring a dish to share at the feast.

We have live music from:

South African composer and guitar virtuoso Andrew Eagle with support from the Phoenix Kitchen Collective.

Risenga Makondo, Venda based multi-instrumentalist and performer will be gracing us with his unique Venda Shangaan jazz fusion.

KaShaka, electrifying acoustic Afro-Brazilian ensemble - sizzling percussion grooves and soulful horns will get smiles and dancing flowing.

This is a FREE event brought to you by Diversity Lewes and Community Chef CIC.

Our aim is to encourage cultural appreciation and help create healthy, diverse and harmonious communities.

Space available due to last minute cancellation!

Award winning funded cookery course for men starting next week.

* 15th April - 13th May
* Five weekly sessions on Wednesdays 10:30 - 13:30
* Takes place at the Lewes Community Kitchen and run by an expert tutor

A five week, in person, hands on cookery course for men of all ages who want to improve their cookery skills. Low cost - the booking fee of £10 covers everything thanks to National Lottery Funding.

The course aims to promote self-sufficiency, improve nutrition, and foster a sense of well-being through cooking.

Participants will learn practical cooking skills, enjoy nutritious and simple recipes, and develop the confidence to prepare meals that are both healthy and enjoyable.

Thoughts from a previous participant: 'I’ve found the Man with a Pan interesting, informative and social. Also inspiring because you go home and think, let’s buy some vegetables!'
