Happy Independent Bookshop Week! 🙌 A perfect time to say a big thank you to all our wonderful, hardworking Indies. These precious places mean so much to me, and bring so much joy to so many.
ALSO feels like a perfect time to announce some big personal news…

I’m excited to reveal that my book, A MISCELLANY OF BRITISH BOOKSHOPS, will be coming out next year with the wonderful ! (and with huge thanks to )

Containing over 100 of my watercolour sketches from my travels across the UK, with stories from booksellers and delightful discoveries gathered along the way, this book is my love letter to Britain’s beloved bookshops (and booksellers!) from iconic destinations to hidden local gems.

What a trip! Northern Ireland your booksellers are next level and your bookshops are wonderful. Lots of cups of tea shared, many sketches taken and plenty books bought. I really want to come back soon. Thank you for your hospitality, stories and my first ever packed lunch from a bookseller (Jenni at Little Acorns)🤣 The video is somehow cut off the top of the amazing painting on the ceiling of No Alibis but can anyone guess who the famous detective is …?

Earlier this year I had the joy of visiting Hazel, Harriet and Harriet . They gave me the warmest welcome and the best cup of tea I’ve had in London (I wonder if Hazel keeps the Scottish Blend in the back 🤔).
We talked about books and the 100 year old remarkable history of this bookshop, and of course we talked dogs 🐕 ❤️ I hope to meet Toffee the next time I’m there.

I may have been stranded on a Hebridean island for my birthday (gift number 1) but to come home to such thoughtful gifts from friends and family was really special. They know me so well. All from independent shops and encouraging creativity 🥰

Taking a break from painting bookshops today and having the most fun painting their furry friends instead. Meet Juno from , she is a Bedlington Whippet and when not hard at work promoting new releases she can be found snoozing under the counter or playing in the bookshops secret garden. Isn’t she gorgeous ☺️
