⚽🧶 World Cup ready at The Sun Inn, Prescot! 🧶⚽

Our wonderful Hooked crochet group has spent the last few weeks creating handmade bunting to help decorate The Sun Inn for the World Cup.

It’s been a fantastic community project, bringing us together to crochet, chat, laugh, and create something special for everyone to enjoy. Seeing all our hard work proudly displayed around the pub makes us incredibly proud.

A huge thank you to everyone in the group who contributed their time, creativity, and crochet skills to make this project possible. ❤️

Beginners crochet class

This week we’re back to learning the basic stitches to start crocheting.

Finishing by making a summery keyring.

Hardware & beads included — bring your own wool & hooks (some are available to use).

A little peek into today's crochet class! 🧶✨

We had such a wonderful time today at The Sun Inn.
We grabbed some lovely drinks, caught up, and spent ages chatting about all the exciting future projects we want to tackle together.

We also explored a few fun new stitches before finally making a start on our cute summer sunglasses bags! 😎👜

So proud of everyone today! new stitches, colour changes, a few frogged rows…and lots of laughs.

Today’s project session was all about Granny Squares, the building blocks for bags, blankets, purses and more. 🧶
We covered:
•starting the centre
•building the corners
•colour changes
•reading a simple pattern
•fixing mistakes without panic

If you’ve got a project you don’t know where to start (or one that’s been sat in the “naughty corner”), come along—I’ll help you get moving again.

Wow. Just... wow! 🥺🧶

Our very first 'Hooked at The Sun Inn' class is officially in the books, and my heart is so full!To everyone who showed up today:

THANK YOU.

Some of you had never held a crochet hook in your life, and look at what you created! We conquered the slip knot, we battled the single crochet, we used the 'Frog It Bucket' to dump our worries, and everyone walked away with a finished drinks mat.Seeing the concentration, the laughs, and the "I did it!" moments was absolutely the best feeling.

A huge thank you to Sun Inn Prescot for being the perfect, cozy hosts. 🍻

How amazing is this!

🍻 The Sun Inn is opening at the end of the month under new landlords, Rod and Clare, they are bringing a proper community feel back to our local area.

They are such a fantastic couple and have been amazing enough to offer me a space to teach my crochet classes (future other crafts too) right there in the pub!

It’s going to be a brilliant spot for a pint, a catch-up, and a bit of crafting.

🍻HI ALL ! Meet Your New Landlords – The Sun Inn 🍻

Alright everyone… time to put some names to the faces behind the bar!

We’re Rod & Clare, and we’re super excited to be taking over The Sun Inn. We’ve been married for 23 years (yes… Clare deserves a medal 🏅), we’ve got three grown-up kids who you’ll definitely see getting stuck in, and two brilliant grandkids who already think they run the place!

A bit about us…

Rod here – by day I’m a Head of Geography at a secondary school in the North West, but I’ve also been a Branch Manager for Nissan UK and dipped my toes into a few other businesses along the way. On top of that, I’ve spent the last 28 years as a mobile DJ, playing everywhere from your local pubs to some of the biggest venues in the North West… so expect a few tunes, a few dodgy dance moves, and definitely some karaoke (whether you like it or not 🎤).

Clare is the real boss (don’t let her tell you otherwise). She’s an ODP and has been working in hospital theatres alongside surgeons for the last 8 years – so safe to say she keeps a steady hand under pressure! Before that she was a chef at a local distribution warehouse… so if you’re hungry or things need organising, you’re in good hands.

We’re taking this on with the help of our amazing family and some top-quality friends, and we honestly can’t wait to get going.

Our aim? Simple…
🍺 A proper community pub
👋 A place to see familiar faces
🎉 A place to meet new ones
🎤 And a place where there’s always something going on

We’ve got loads of events lined up, some new ideas during the week, and plenty more to come… so keep your eyes peeled!

My secret is out, lots of planning and ‘can I do it’ moments. But an opportunity I couldn’t refuse. Starting April 8th at the Sun Inn Prescot. I’ll be teaching beginner crocheting lessons and project groups.
Abilities for all to join in, socialise and create a community.
Watch this space as more things will be happening at The Sun Inn this year.
