A quick before and after of a climbing rose I pruned recently.
Dead, diseased, and damaged material is removed first. Then the best main shoots are selected, with the side shoots cut back by at least 2/3rds to an appropriate bud.
Then it is tied back to a wire with the tip as close to horizontal as possible to encourage flowering shoots.

Inspired by some sunshine and the longer evenings I ventured into my own, rather neglected, garden.

We inherited an overgrown, very sour, cooking apple tree when we moved in. It wasn't earning its keep, so last year I decided to try my hand at stump grafting and turning it into a 'family tree'

Most of the grafts seem to have taken and we now have Katy, Fiesta, and Laxton's Superb growing on the same tree. As well as the original cooker.

Luckily, it's not too late to do a bit of winter pruning, as the Laxton's Superb has grown about four feet in one year!

Today I've been dodging downpours chopping up a ton bag of kindling!

I've nearly finished weeding this large asparagus bed (rake at the back for scale!)
This has to be done carefully to avoid damaging the delicate crowns.
Asparagus don't like too much competition and love a good mulch, so a few barrow loads of homemade compost will go on when the soil warms up a bit.
There should be some ready to harvest in a couple of months, delicious!

The garlic that I planted last autumn is coming on nicely through the winter.
It will be ready to harvest in the summer when the leaves turn yellow.
It can then be used fresh or dried out for a few weeks and stored through the winter.
Delicious!

Hello,

I'm Adam and welcome to my business page.

I have been gardening since I was a little boy and started doing it professionally twenty years ago.

In that time I have completed my RHS level two and worked in some amazing gardens. Including running a twenty five acre estate for five years.

I have also worked with and for some very experienced gardeners who've kindly shared their knowledge with me.

I have recently moved to the area and I will be taking on new clients in early March.

Get in touch today if I can help with your garden!
