It’s been a long time since we last shared a post...But we’re back, ready to inspire, teach, and most importantly, have fun in the garden again. Whether you’re a seasoned grower or just starting out, we’re here to share our journey—full of successes, mishaps, and plenty of humour along the way. So grab your trowel, dust off those seed packets, and let’s get growing together!...

Always a nice surprise when you leave a random little seedling to grow and it turns out to be an edible vegetable and not a w**d!

After many failed attempts growing Artichokes (due to slugs and snails eating the baby plants before they got a chance to grow) - we finally have our first crop of Artichokes!

Not quite sure when to pick these though? 🤔

The Goji Berry bush has started to flower!

Very exciting stuff seeing as this plant was near death in December and April- so happy it’s now flowering.

Fingers crossed for some fruit later in the year!

New addition to the plot- a carrot bed! 🥕

One of our neighbouring plots had some wood they wanted to get rid of so of course we took them up on that offer to repurpose!

The planks were a perfect size to create a little carrot bed on the plot. Base layer some of our homemade compost, layered with 3 bags of coconut coir. The idea behind this is to encourage the carrots to search for the ‘goodness and nutrients’ in the compost by growing downwards- therefore hopefully resulting in some nice long, straight carrots.

Luckily we didn’t plant any seeds though, the next day we came back, the foxes decided to treat this is a play pen and literally dug out half the coir 😒. When will we learn to start covering up things 😂

Little peak in the greenhouse…

Amazing how quick things grow when you’ve connected a little irrigation system to your waterbutt and have a continuous feed going…

Plants are looking great, healthy and even falling over because we run out of canes and didn’t string them up 😀😅.

The greenhouse / polytunnel hybrid has been a wonderful learning curve for this year…already planning for 2022!

Appreciating our sunflowers in the rain yesterday…after the slugs had eaten the majority of the leaves, we thought they were gonners!

But, they pulled through and look beautiful! 🌻🌻🌻

The humble sweetpea flower 😍

I’d never smelt a sweetpea until this year (can you believe it?!).

Starting this page and hearing about the sweet scent of a sweetpea from the insta garden community meant we simply had to give them a go this year.

A beautiful sweet flower, obligingly abundant, and so wonderfully fragrant.

Any new gardeners out there should definitely get these guys on the list for next year!
