Our Gardening Team Leaders take teams of up to 50 persons to community gardens round London.

Looking for help -

I'd like to write a monthly/fortnightly column about Central London's hidden community garden gems. What to see, when to visit, what plants or street trees are popping in what season, and so on.

I'm not sure how to get started. I don't know anyone who works for CityAM, Evening Standard etc. I'm stuck getting my foot through the door.

I'd love have this up and running by Spring 2025.

Can anyone in my network help?

It would help to raise the profile and specifically the Search Engine Optimization of our work improving community gardens around London!

New partnership with Boston Manor Park in West London. Home to London's biggest cedar Tree of Lebanon. And the base for the very knowledgeable and welcoming Head Gardener Vanessa.

We're excited to be taking teams of corporate volunteers to Boston Manor Park later this year to celebrate !

Boston Manor Park is loved by the local residents for its various and changeable landscapes; formal lawns by Boston Manor House; the wild woods and canals; the long sweep of the formal pond; the respite of the walled garden.

We will be doing a mix of conservation and horticultural work. For conservation, we will be building dead hedges (out of logs) to encourage wildlife, mulching over large areas, and creating a new planting terrace from scratch in the ornamental lake.

For the gardeners, we’ll be planting new bulbs and perennials in the meadow, dead-heading flowers, and planting up a border of the walled garden.

🌍 Last year we facilitated 210 hours of volunteering for Earth Day. This year we want to more than double that to 500 hours.

👃👃👃👃👃 You can't send a smell through social media. Here's two plants to enjoy the fragrances of in Winter I've seen (& smelled) today:

- sweet box (with black berries and bell shaped dainty white flowers) has a honey-like fragrance is a true winter delight.
-the aroma of mahonia (spiky dark green leaves and yellow sprays of flowers) is (IMO) reminiscent of freshly washed clothes on a cold winter's day.

Here's how I'm celebrating Imbolc:
I'll be Spring-spotting.

This morning I took a walk around my local park, looking for the first signs of spring.

It's definitely worth a few mins out of your day to be mindful and look at the small details in nature.

This is what I found: catkins, buds forming on cherry laurel, snowdrops, wild violets, and the sulphuric green flowers on euphorbia.
Imbolc / Saint Brigid's Day is a Gaelic traditional festival. It marks the beginning of spring on 1 February. We’re about halfway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.

What you’re favourite bit of Spring peeking its head up through Winter’s end?

New garden partnership: Golden Lane Estate

We’ll be supporting the famous, Grade II listed *Golden Lane Estate* - right next to the Barbican. We’ll be redesigning gardens, running mindful gardening sessions and helping their resident buddy-scheme with garden tidy-ups.
