Woldon Architects

Woldon Architects Woldon is a British architecture and design practice dating back to 2010. In 2020 Gluckman Smith was subsumed into Woldon.

Founded in London as Gluckman Smith by architects Robert Gluckman and Thomas Smith, the practice has since grown and evolved with a Cotswolds Office opening in 2016 and Philip Shears joining as partner in 2018. As the Directors, Robert, Tom and Phil continue to drive the practice forward into our second decade.

A Cotswolds kitchen defined by contrast and warmth.

A deep red island anchors the space within an otherwise calm, neutral palette, while a timber archway frames the kitchen and softens the transition between rooms. Bold colour, used sparingly, paired with natural materials to create depth and character.

Materiality plays a key role in grounding the architecture: timber cladding to soften new interventions, refined window proportions, and carefully considered junctions between old and new. These details bring warmth, texture and longevity to the overall scheme.

Woldon Architects and Edgars Planning Consultants, are pleased to have secured permission for 8 new homes on a rural site in Oxfordshire.

This success of this exciting project was delivered through the combination of a carefully balanced planning strategy and creative design solution. Edgars were instrumental, skilfully trading Class Q consents for new build residential units demonstrating a clear planning gain to the local authority - particularly in relation to the impact upon to heritage assets, landscape sensitivity, and sustainability.

Woldon’s design lead approach draws on the site’s agricultural character, sensitively adapting existing heritage barns offset with contemporary design intervention that introduces new elements to support modern, rural living.

The restoration of the iconic clock tower at Redesdale Hall in Moreton in Marsh is a celebration of craftsmanship and heritage. A carefully selected team of specialist sub-contractors are carefully restoring the intricate timber elements of the surrounding clock tower. preserving its timeless presence in the heart of the Cotswolds. The clock is to be fully overhauled with newly gilded dial rings preserving its timeless presence in the heart of the North Cotswolds. It’s been a privilege to be part of this journey, and we look forward to sharing the completed transformation of both the tower and hall in the coming months.

A thank you to -
