Always a joy to gather in the gallery and share ideas in an intimate setting, this time exploring how material in art can act as a second skin, a progressive narrative, a spatial tension, or a vessel of memory. And always yes to amazing matcha latte as reception drinks — thank you .uk! 💚

Soft Spot I A social furniture in the form of cushioned steps embedded with earthen casts. The design offers a soft, adaptable canvas where users can rest, hug, gather, and explore their own ways of inhabitation to fulfill various social needs.

Soft Spot tells the story of two key materials: limecrete and knitted fabric. Reversing the traditional approach of placing soft fabric over hard materials, Soft Spot embeds the hard into the soft. This distinctive pairing celebrates the hygroscopic qualities of limecrete which enhances our well-being by buffering moisture and absorbing carbon dioxide, while the soft cushioning and tactility of knitted fabric provide comfort and intimacy.

The assembly of Soft Spot uses only stackable cushions and removable casts, allowing for easy relocation and sustainable reuse. Its modular design welcomes customisations for different moods and spaces, making it versatile for public and exhibition applications.

Here’s to finding soft spots for our public spaces.

(In)visible Body brings together artworks that use the body as a medium to explore memory, trauma and identity. Through photography, installation and performance, the exhibition reflects on how lived experience is carried, altered, and shared through the body. It considers how bodies act as repositories of personal and collective histories, and how they give form to what is often unseen or forgotten. The exhibition centres on the work of Sohaila Baluch and Claire Sunho Lee. Both artists draw on embodied memory to question the limits of visibility and examine how memories are embedded in the skin, gestures and movements.
