Extensions! - So what’s the one question we get asked weekly, if not daily here at RR’s? How much is an extension these days?
Well there are soo many factors and variables that affect the costings on this, but we do have a rule of thumb that can be helpful as a basic guide:
If you are on a budget and looking for a standard extension, with standard finishes; work out the square metre of the extension/works undertaken and for every 1m2, times it by £2750.
If you are looking for a John Lewis, Marks and Spencers food level finish extension, for every m2, times it by £3750-£4,000 and if you are looking for Selfridges/Harrods on another level finish; then start at a minimum of £5,000 per m2 and then some!
(This is a guide, not gospel!)
However, what we will say, is if you really hunt around and plan well, there is a world of discounts out there (including what your builder can get) for kitchens, tiles, paints, glazing etc
For example, did you know you can take the codes from Farrow and Ball and have the paint made up at a lot lower cost with another paint supplier? Did you know if you get a quote from one of the major kitchen suppliers out there and take it to the other ones; they will all offer you the world and a lower price and eventually your original quote will drop by a long shot! There are plenty more tricks in the books, but book in a free consultation for works with us and we will happily let you into all the trade secrets!
These are just a few of the extensions we’ve done over the years; enjoy!
