(Berberis thunbergii) has nectar/pollen rich flowers and is known for attracting bees and birds.
It is often used as a tough barrier hedge, and provides shelter and habitat for wildlife.
For year-round interest, it has dark red-purple leaves with small yellow flowers in spring. In autumn the leaves change to a brilliant shade of red.

A lovely visit this week out to our old friends and preferred suppliers Provender Nurseries in Swanley, Kent.

Thicket Creeper ( ) growing through a tree.
Closely related to and commonly confused with Parthenocissus quinquefolia ( ), they differ in their means of climbing. The former lacks 'suckers' and doesn't climb smooth walls, only growing through shrubs and trees.

Enjoyed over the seasons by beetles, bees and birds. 🍂

( lamarckii/snowy mespilus) is an early blooming tree or shrub with year round appeal.
Their fragrant white blossoms mature into bunches of tasty, dark purple berries, and in they display vibrant and hued leaves.
Tolerating a wide range of soil pH conditions and soil textures (coarse sand to silty clay) these easy-to-grow trees are a horticultural gift that keeps on giving.

get along with very little water and soil. They're known for their rich, jewel-toned colours; are fast and easy to grow and, in fact, do best with a little neglect.

The leaves and flowers are , with a peppery flavour, so are often found in alongside broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower, where they keep pests away.

We had a great day yesterday at Majestic Trees 20th birthday celebration & industry symposium in Flamstead, Hertfordshire. Excellent talks by Arit Anderson (Garden designer and BBC Gardeners World presenter) and Steve McCurdy (MD Majestic Trees).
