2 years of construction for 6 buildings in Soje-dong became an urban story by the . Speaking with the editor Yujyoung Bang was a precious time to rethink the projects in one narrative. It was not just about designing a photographic building, but planting a seed that would activate the Soje neighbourhood with ever changing culture. Could it possibly compete with Naoshima in the future? :)

What 3D models and AI cannot do:
Sunlight could be a source of nuisance in a gallery. But carefully controlled one can uplift the display. Using the skylight and carefully coordinated louver under, only the middle section of the floor gets an atmospheric sunlight while the walls remain neutral. This can be tested only in a real model.

디지털 모델이 절대 못하는 것: 내부의 자연광 스터디.
조그마한 빛 한 줄기도 잡으려면 실제 큰 스케일 모델이 필수이다. 현란한 빛의 계산을 해주는 많은 프로그램이 있지만 아직 손맛과 직접적인 빛의 효과를 못 따라간다. (아직 AI 가 건드리지 못하는 작은 영역이 있긴 하군).

The 3rd construciton in Soje-dong began last week. Art site soje is about to add another smaller exhibition hall that reinterprets the 100 year old Gwansa (timber buildings) in the neighborhood. In combination of timber and our unique ”Sojegiwa“ louvers, the new building awaits another amazing exhibit. Big Challenge is: can this construction complete in mere 8 weeks before the opening date? If it goes as planned, we better apply for a Guiness Record. :)

소제동 아트사이트소제에 3번째 공사가 시작됐다. 작은 전시홀 하나 추가 공사이지만, 이번엔 주변 100년된 목조 관사들을 재해석한 잼있는 건축을 고안해봤다. 8주만에 완공해야 하는 초고속 데드라인을 향해 다들 너무 열심히 달리고 있는데.... 완공한다면 기네스같은 기록에 남지 않을까 싶다. :)

Can we think much more fun way of eating outside? For a site in Yeongjong island, we are trying to invent new typology of F&B.
The modular hybrid timber units align to form 5 different gardens where people can cook, buy food, day camp, and enjoy the diversity of landscape.
Imagine parts all arriving in a truck and a simple assembly in a few weeks rather than months.

F&B 에 새로운 도전을 해보는 영종도 프로젝트 진행중.
먹는게 다가 아니라 직접 굽고, 데이캠프도 하고, 갯볼같은 물 위를 뛰어다니면서 5개의 가든을 경험하는 연면적 600평의 레스토랑.
목조 하이브리드로 트럭에서 내려온 구조물을 몇주만에 완공하는 형태이다. 옆으로도 붙이고 위로도 쌓는 레고같은 파빌리온이 될듯.
영종도에서 곧 경험할 날이 오길…. Design by
