Is a collective that believes in the transformative power of architecture and design. Founded by Alana Madden and Ninnie Yeo.

HOOD exists to interrogate the status quo, to initiate radical change and to chart new design territory through our creative process. Unfettered by traditions of spatial production, HOOD’s methodology is informed by revolutionary and progressive tactics, proposing alternatives to the restrictive conventions of architecture and design. Gender and sexuality have always been prominent

issues in our lives, reflected in our cultural interests, social groups and beliefs. HOOD believes that without an equal platform to begin from, it is impossible to embark on what should be a natural trajectory of individual artistic vision. The launch of our debut event ‘No Man’s Land’ (NML) will function as a critical interrogation into the institutionalised patriarchal system that underpins current Architecture and Design practice. Our goal is to develop an inclusive gender-neutral approach to these creative fields that will allow the participants to gain greater leverage and autonomy over their individual mode of expression. The NML event includes an installation, symposium and smaller daily events merging the world of design with other cultural and experimental communities, embracing HOOD’s ideology and benefiting all with richer resource and integration.
