OWL is the creation of the London based artist Carole Villain. As a child, Carole had a long lasting fascination for Greek mythology and especially for the bird of the goddess Athena: the owl. Becoming an artist Carole has developed a passion for hand printing techniques. OWL was born from that mix of passion for owls, printing, handmade products and a taste for fun and imagination.
Carole Villain (born 1978 – France) lives and works in London. Her current work includes painting, collage, video and hand printing. OWL is the expression of the cute side of her personality.
Cards and prints were launched in 2011 when Carole arrived in London from France with the head full of dreams and a little lino owl in her bags. Carole started in London markets: Old Spitalfields, Sunday Up market in Brick lane, Camden, and many designers markets & galleries around the town, selling lino prints and her handmade cards. In June 2013 Carole decided to take her products to the next level by creating the brand OWL with a new range of cards and new exciting series of screen prints in limited edition. Cards and prints are hand pulled by the artist in her London studio!
