🔍✨ **Introducing the 3X3X3 Scheme** ✨🔍

An innovative exploratory research project redefining urban living for young professionals! This cutting-edge concept focuses on reducing land fees by limiting the development footprint to just 3 metres in width, exploring a narrow yet tall design narrative. Each floor boasts a generous slab-slab height of 4 metres, creating a spacious feel with a stunning glazed north-south orientation.

This was an opportunity to revisit and offer an alternative option for a mixed-use development scheme located in Wakering Road, Barking, East London. The scheme was to be a prestigious development comprising of a health centre, hotel and residential units with considerations for vehicular parking.

At inception, the design approach was based on the contextual analyses of the existing and proposed scheme which surrounds the site. Through this investigation, the concept developed ideas, which Barking County Council dubbed the ‘apples and pears’ scheme.’

The design approach followed those outlined in the Unisys project.
The scheme faced roughly north and south, the design looked to maximising solar energy. At the early design stage, the scheme proposed two organic shapes floating above a rectilinear base.

It was these shapes and the fruit used for the concept model that were refereed to as the ‘apples and pears’. The podium, (platform level) was to be planted and vegetation allowed to grow on the side of the scheme.

The brief was to renovate the existing 3-bedroom house and the adjacent out-house used as an Office.

The proposal was to refurbish the house with a rear extension and install new roof lights to bring natural light into the family home.

The house was completely stripped out and new fixtures installed. In line with this is the consideration of creating a simple enclosed porch entrance with a sliding door.

The Kitchen was finished with marble worktop with soft-close, gloss finished wall cabinet units.

The floor to the entire property is Oak floor boards with underfloor heating to the ground and first floor.
