“Why is the top of the Brutalist tower yellow?”

Walk along the south bank of the Thames on a sunny day (Brutalism and rain don’t go well together), and you’ll find some of the UK’s most iconic Brutalist buildings just metres apart.

The circulation elements are painted in a bright yellow which inspired our design.

1951 → Royal Festival Hall → Matthew, Martin, Moro
1967–68 → Queen Elizabeth Hall + Hayward
1976 → National Theatre → Lasdun
