I could write another post about how hard this job was. The tonnes of hardcore. The weeks on site. Working through the weather. Myself and Oskar grafting start to finish while the farm stayed open around us.
And we still loved every minute of it.
But on the last straight - Good Friday morning, 90% done - we opened the main patio to the public. And that's when I noticed we'd done something else this time.
Kids running safely between tables. Café staff able to move freely and serve properly. Families settling in, having coffee, enjoying the space. A community that needed somewhere better to gather - and now they had it.
130m² of Raj Green sandstone. A new timber pergola. A roof overhead for all seasons. Six weeks of work that will last decades.
20 years on the tools. My voice cracked. Tear in the eye. Something you don't often get on a job.
Worth every bag of hardcore.
