Discovering Britain

Discovering Britain From the mountains and glens of the Scottish Highlands to the rolling downland of Southern England, every landscape has a story to tell. www.rgs.org

Founded in 1830, the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) is dedicated to the development and promotion of geographical knowledge, together with its application to the challenges facing society and the environment. Society membership is open to all - with different categories to suit all types of interest and involvement.

Discovering Britain has been created by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) to help people learn more about the geographical stories behind Britain’s rich and varied landscapes. We hope to bring these landscapes to life by helping you to uncover the stories behind them. However much or little time you have, there is a self-led Discovering Britain activity to suit you. From our viewpoints and short trails to our longer walks, the stories that Britain’s landscape has to tell are waiting to be uncovered.
