Did you know BCC Adaptations is a Home Improvement Agency (HIA)?

As an approved Home Improvement Agency, BCC Adaptations exists to support people to live safely, independently and with dignity in their own homes.

So what does that actually mean?
An HIA is a service that works closely with local authorities, health partners and housing teams to help homeowners, private tenants and landlords navigate the often complex process of home adaptations and repairs.

At BCC Adaptations, this includes:
✅ Supporting clients through Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs)
✅ Assessing needs and designing practical, life‑enhancing adaptations
✅ Managing works from survey to completion
✅ Ensuring projects are safe, compliant and value for money
✅ Acting as a trusted, independent advocate for vulnerable residents

Being an HIA means being person‑centred, impartial and focused on outcomes, not profit.
Our role is to remove barriers, reduce stress and make the process clear and supportive from start to finish.
