Winter is here! trees and some shrubs may be shedding their leaves before going to sleep but not everything does! For a lot of plants like bulbs, late autumn and winter is the start of preparations for another year of colour! And their bulbs love to do that wrapped up under the blanket of fallen leaves! So, best idea not to waste them...Leaves, like any plant material, are a great way of returning goodness to the soil and improving it. In my case, they are useful even as a way to disguise newly planted tulip bulbs which squirrels just love to dig out and destroy! The leaves help disguise the smell of newly planted bulbs and discourage the squirrels from digging them !
