Barn Conversion Nearing Completion...

An old disused and dilapidated barn in Nottinghamshire is being repurposed into a new 5-bedroom family home.

The exterior of the barn has been completely re-clad – the corrugated metal replaced with black painted vertical oak cladding.

Inside, a dramatic double-height space contains the family living areas overlooked by a gallery within the roof space.

Brick has been working closely with Wyld Sauna in bringing a traditional Nordic sauna experience to Liverpool Waters this autumn, in what will be the UK’s first public floating sauna.

Part of a wider waterside regeneration project, the sauna will be moored on the banks of Princes Dock, and it will provide a space to relax in the heart of the city.

The sauna will float on Liverpool’s only fresh water outdoor swimming venue and its compact design includes a pontoon containing a 30-person sauna, two ice baths, two cold waterfall showers, four heated outdoor showers with salt rub, outdoor seating and changing rooms.

The contemporary design is wrapped in Shou-Sugi-Ban timber cladding, which is a modern version of the ancient Japanese art of charring timber to provide a beautiful and long lasting timber cladding.

Planning approval received for extensive remodelling and extensions to beautiful Edwardian home in East London. We are now looking forward to carrying out the detailed design stage and starting on site towards the end of the year.

We’ve recently surveyed a couple of listed houses in London using a 3D laser scanner, which is new and exciting technology for the practice.

The survey produces highly detailed 3D point cloud computer models that give us an intimate view of existing structure, materiality and form, and which provide an accurate digital record that we can reference throughout the design and construction process.

The models are also very useful in assisting creative design and allow us to quickly visualise extensions and modifications to existing structures.

A new cantilevering helical staircase is being installed at our new-build home site in Essex. The staircase features a continuous oak handrail spanning three floors and black metal spindles.

Landings have been shaped to continue and match the helical form of the staircase, creating grand views up and down the central void, within which new decorative lighting will be installed.

The gardens will provide a place of sanctuary and opportunity for social interaction for the local community.
