Top tip:

If you are going to have bi-fold doors fitted, make sure you know the brand name that is being installed...make sure the rollers have an adjustment bolt for when they drop and need raising, (and they will)…and make sure you buy a spare set of rollers as a back up.

You will thank me in ten years time when you start to have problems and need them fixing. 👍

I am contacted by a lot of people who tell me they can't open one of their external doors; which is a real pain!

After getting the door open, (which I charge for, as it takes time and is a skill in itself), I sometimes diagnose the problem as the door having a completely dry gearbox and locking mechanism. No new parts are needed, they just need lubricating and they work like new. (Now, if I were a scumbag, I would tell them they need new parts...whether a new gearbox, locking mechanism, euro lock...or all three. But I'm not a scumbag, so I don't). 😇

The reason for telling you this, is to encourage you to have all your door and window locks lubricated / serviced at least every three years; as prevention is far cheaper than cure.

I have just been to fix some sliding patio doors. My customer was told he needed new ones...but he didn't. I have just saved him £1200.00

I also stopped the rain from coming in onto his kitchen floor.

Top tip...

Always be cautious of any tradesman who gives you a quote and tells you that you have to make a decision straight away...you don't.

Take some time to think about it first and talk to your friends or relatives. If the tradesman is genuine, they won't be pushing you for an answer. 👍

I am offering a UPVC (& composite) door and window health check / service for £75.00.

I will check all seals and lubricate all hinges and mechanisms (because nobody ever does😉). Keeping everything lubricated can double the life span of all moving parts.

If I notice any issues during the service; I will show you them and I can quote to fix them if you want me to...giving you time to think about it and decide what is best for you. No pressure.

Prevention is always cheaper than cure...so contact me if you want to go ahead.

If you have a door that is difficult to open or close/lock; it might just need adjusting.

So get it adjusted asap, as the longer you leave it, the more pressure you will be putting on the handles and gearboxes; and if they fail you will not only add to the repair bill...but there is a good chance you could be either locked in or out. 😬
