Another busy week at Ludlow Salvage…

A big load of tiles has gone out, landscaping materials are flying out the gate, and we’ve got a new range of terracotta pots arriving that we’re quite excited about.

It feels like every time we make a bit of space, another lorry turns up and fills it again. Stock coming in, stock going out – just how we like it.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported us this week. We’ve met some great customers, loaded countless vehicles, answered approximately 47,000 messages…

…and I’m pleased to report I’ve only chinned four customers, which is well below the seasonal average.

Have a great weekend everyone, and keep an eye on the page as we’ve got plenty more arriving soon.

🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

Are you having too much of an easy day at work?

Is everything running smoothly?

Do you find yourself with spare time and a dangerously low blood pressure?

Then why not advertise something on Facebook Marketplace?

Marketplace offers:

✅ People asking questions that are answered in the first sentence of the advert.

✅ People asking for measurements that are shown in the photos.

✅ “Collection only” somehow translating to “Can you deliver to Cornwall?”

✅ “£100” translating to “Will you take £12 and a half-eaten Twix?”

✅ “Is this available?” followed by complete silence and never heard from again.

✅ Customers requiring 27 photos, a video walkthrough and a written statement from the previous owner before spending £5.

✅ The chance to answer messages for three days straight only to receive:
“Thanks, I’ve decided I don’t actually need one.”

And let’s not forget Marketplace’s innovative pricing system…

Want to sell something for £19.50?

Nope.

£19 or £20.

Those are your choices. Welcome to the future.

Need to list a £13.50 scaffold board?

Tough luck. Apparently decimal points were deemed too complicated for a platform where people regularly ask questions answered in the title.

And remember:

The more clearly you write:

🚫 NO OFFERS
🚫 COLLECTION ONLY
🚫 ALL INFORMATION IN THE AD

…the more messages you’ll receive asking:

“What’s your best price?”

“Can you deliver?”

“How long is it?”

“How many are there?”

“Where are you?”

“Is this available?”

Facebook Marketplace.

Where selling a £5 item requires the patience of a saint, the negotiating skills of a hostage specialist, and the emotional resilience of a bomb disposal expert. 😂🍻

🌿 Beautiful Reclaimed Hardwood Gates & Doors Just In! 🌿

We’ve recently acquired a fantastic selection of old hardwood gates, shutters and doors, all full of character and charm.

Perfect for:
✅ Garden features
✅ Decorative screens
✅ Courtyard walls
✅ Pergolas and outdoor rooms
✅ Period and character properties

Many still retain their original paint, ironwork and weathered patina, giving them a look that simply can’t be replicated with modern reproductions.

Various sizes, styles and prices available, with some lovely pairs amongst them.

Pop down and have a browse — they’re the sort of items that tend to find a home very quickly once people see them in person.

🎣 COME ON LADIES, COME ON LADIES… 🎣
🐟 One pound fish… 🐟

Well… maybe not fish. But we have had a proper smorgasbord of reclaimed and new materials land in the yard this week.

Fresh loads of:
🪵 Sleepers
🧱 Furnace bricks
🏠 Roof tiles absolutely everywhere
🪨 Stone, paving, slates and plenty more besides

The yard is looking properly full again with loads to rummage through whether you’re after one piece for the garden or sorting a full project.

Reclaimed bits, new bits, rustic bits, tidy bits… there’s a bit of everything here at the moment.

So if you’ve not been down for a while, it’s worth a wander round.

🎣 Come and have a look, very very cheap… 🎣 😄

Facebook Marketplace is wild.
One bloke asks if you’ll take £12 and a broken strimmer for £800 worth of York stone…
Another turns up in a Fiat 500 to collect 3 tonnes of sleepers.

Anyway, we’ve got some lovely stock in this week.

Morning all — we’re open today, Saturday, 9am–1pm 👍

We’ve had loads of new garden bits arrive recently, so definitely worth popping over for a browse if you’re working on the garden or outdoor space this year.

Alongside that, we’ve still got all the usual reclaimed goodies:

* timbers
* flagstones
* roof tiles & slates
* sleepers
* bricks
* troughs
* salvage bits and pieces

Truth be told, there’s only so many photos you can take of stacks of bricks and roof tiles before Facebook starts thinking we’ve completely lost the plot… so the garden stuff’s a bit easier on the eye 🌿😂

Pop over and have a wander. You never quite know what you’ll find at Ludlow Salvage.

Funny old world sometimes 😂

We still work on a bit of trust here. Customers load up, staff help out, and sometimes people come into the office to pay before the lads get back over with the final tally.

Every now and then someone mysteriously ‘forgets’ a few bricks/items and then laughs when we catch it… as if we’re all supposed to admire the attempt 😅

It’s always funny how the same people would never dream of walking into Tesco and trying to sneak a few bits past the checkout.

Thankfully 99% of our customers are spot on — but yes, we do notice 👀

Garden party: sorted. 🍻

Our reclaimed beer trolley in its natural habitat… loaded with ice, full of cold ones, and doing exactly what it was built for.

Solid timber, galvanised trug, easy to wheel about and guaranteed to become the most popular spot in the garden (for obvious reasons).

Perfect for BBQs, parties, weddings… or just a “quiet one” that somehow gets out of hand.

Grab a beer. You know you want to.
