On the buses!

As some may've already heard on the jungle drums of Lyme things are a changing in the world of Joe the Plumber...........

After being in the trade for the past 20yrs I feel it's time to do something I've wanted to have a crack at since I was a young whipper snapper watching Stan, Jack and Blakey! So come the New Year I start training with Stagecoach Exeter!

However don't despair, is still continuing to fulfil all your tap, toilet and shower problems! I also intend to continue keeping your boilers and fires in tip top condition with service days going forward so don't hesitate to call.

I want to thank absolutely everyone who has invited us into their homes and businesses. Trusting us to make their visions into reality. I've been so privileged to have been involved and complete some sensational projects of all different sizes over the years. So thank you again, you all made Joe the Plumber possible. I'm sure this isn't the end but for now at least, goodbye, Merry Christmas and to all an incredible New Year!

Complete transformation..........

We were asked by a local teacher if we'd renovate his recently purchased house, we took a look and this is the results......

Starting by repiping the entire house new water main, feeding a lay flat unvented hot water cylinder. To heat the house and of course the water, we fitted a baxi 830 heat only, with DQ column radiators! Controlled by the eph app enabled controls.

We converted an area of the attic into an en-suite bathroom installing a new velux window, upgrading the floor joists, laying a new floor and building up studwork before installing the suite, consisting of black brassware, dual fuel towel rail, w.c, vanity unit and shower enclosure!

Attention then turned to the main bathroom where antique brassware was the choice. We replaced the window to a new uPVC sash window, followed by tiling and installation of the suite consisting of w.c, basin, shower and dual fuel towel rail.

Last but not least we couldn't leave the downstairs loo feeling abandoned so swapped out the w.c for a beautiful antique brass high level w.c, wall mounted oblong basin and new towel rail.

This is why it is so important to remove a gas fire entirely, we've come to service this fire which has allegedly been serviced every year. Yet again the customer says "oh the previous guy never took it out like that."

If you don't remove it you never know what horrors lay behind, the chimney is so important to be clear to draw all the gasses produced whilst the fire burns out of the building. Keeping you and your family safe, I see this time and time again where a fire hasn't been removed during a previous service.

It's been a while........

We've been working hard completing projects but it's been a while since I've remembered to take photos...... So here's our latest ensuite.

We were called up in an emergency after the shower had leaked into the lounge below. Discovering how much damage had been done, the customer decided to bite the bullet and replace the whole suite.

We began by removing the existing suite, making good the walls and floor replacing what was needed. Moving onto 1st fixing pipework to inc the install of a 1500x700 tray. With the tray layed we then installed the cappuccino stone multi panel wall boarding and shower enclosure. Next we layed the vinyl before finally installing a dual fuel towel rail, Dual rain head and handheld shower and to complete JJO plc basin and W.C vanity units.

Bit of a spruce!

Back in our old haunt doing some more improvements on a local holiday park. This time it was upgrading the gents and ladies basins and external wash-up sinks in one of their toilet blocks, it's certainly made a world of a difference. All ready to serve the many holiday makers for years to come.

New water system.....

This has been a fantastic project to undertake! This campsite has been suffering since becoming busier in recent years with the water supply to the toilet block being temperamental causing the shower temperatures to fluctuate.

So as part of the ongoing improvements it was in need of upgrading, we started by creating correct flow through the stored water tanks, pumping from the mains fed floor mounted tank to the two tanks on the standtions. This then flows via gravity to the tanks in the pump room from here the water is pumped via a separate pump to the balancing valve to give equal pressure across the hot and cold. With hot water cylinders where a maximum capacity of 1500ltrs of hot water is stored. This then flows via a blending valve to the showers, basins, toilets and wash-up sinks.

Tired to rejuvenated

Well here we were asked to provide a bathroom on a very tight budget, I felt we needed to do our utmost to step up to the fore and make it happen!

We began by removing the old suite and tiles, over boarding the ceiling and plastering. With that complete, it was time to first fix all the electric and plumbing. Next and plastered the walls leaving a beautiful finish to the walls. Once the floor was layed and the bath fitted could begin the installation of the ripple effect white tile.

This then paved the way to the installation of an extractor fan, dual outlet bar mixer shower, light up mirror, corner vanity basin, W.C and electric towel rail. All in all within budget and an absolute stunner of a bathroom complete! 1st of 2024.

Bungalow renovations

We were asked to assist DC Plumbing and Heating with this one...... Firstly after Dan removed the existing bathroom suite we continued to re-plaster the ceilings and wall followed by installing the shower tray. With the electrics installed for the extractor, towel rail and lights. layed the beautiful mermaid tiles followed by tiling the remaining walls, bathroom floor, hall and kitchen floors. Dan then returned to second fix the bathroom suite.

and then continued to plaster all the remaining walls in the bungalow. Once these were dry left way to replace the skirtings and architraves. With four new doors hung it was beginning to look like a home again.

Next we turned our attentions to the installation of the JJO plc kitchen, with laying the splashback tile.

The client also wanted a raised deck built as you left the kitchen door. We built a frame and full length front steps with a set of stairs also rising from the rear gate to allow easier access to the kitchen door. Once the frame was built we decked with mineral anti-slip decking boards and a set of railings.
