"The best time to plant a tree was 30 years ago, the second best time is now" 🌳🪏

Hopefully the first of many trees planted, with the end goal of turning this lapsed Christmas tree (Norway Spruce) plantation into a mini Arboretum for years to come.

Thanks to my parents at for granting me the space for my ideas and gifting me this Carpinus "Rockhampton Red" as a Christmas present to get the ball rolling on this little side project. Watch this space!

This oak had suffered multiple limb failures, damaging phone lines, causing risk to traffic and costing the trees owner money to get tidied up. The tree was requested to be removed but we managed to compromise with a pollard to retain the tree while greatly reducing the risk of any future limb failures. Not to mention a big pile of chip and trailer load of firewood for the client!

We utilised a combination of rigging and winching to get everything on the deck (and extracted from the rather full ditch!) without causing any further damage to adjacent phone & power lines.

Carrying out some work at Corston pond nature reserve this week. Willow re-coppiced and a cherry removed to maintain the area as open water. The cherry was left as a monolith with cuts made to encourage decay and create cavities as habitat for insects, bats and other wildlife.

Popping back to a job we completed before Christmas to tidy up the stump and treat it with Ecoplugs to prevent regrowth. These slow release glyphosate into the stump, preventing it from regrowing without affecting surrounding vegetation and are a cheaper alternative to grinding out the stump.
