A few weeks ago, we shared this beautifully reimagined 1923 New Rochelle home by interior designer Nicole Fisher. What resonated with us most is the project’s commitment to restoring before replacing, something we care deeply about at Castrads.

The home originally featured American Radiator Co. Rococo Window radiators throughout, and rather than stripping away those original details, the design thoughtfully embraced them as part of the home’s architectural story, preserving the warmth, character, and authenticity that make period homes so special.

Where replacements were needed, the focus stayed on complementing the existing radiators and respecting the integrity of the scheme.

It’s a beautiful example of original and new radiators sitting seamlessly alongside one another within a thoughtfully layered interior.

Featuring Mercury 2 and 3 Column in Natural Brass, and Grace 6 Column in a custom RAL Ivory finish.

Warmer days are here, making it the perfect time to fine-tune your heating system for the seasons ahead. ☀️

5 simple ways to make the most of the season:
• Lower your flow temperature for improved efficiency and comfort.

• Keep rooms balanced. Living spaces are typically most comfortable around 19–21°C, while bedrooms often suit 16–18°C.

• Give your radiators a proper clean. Dust build-up can affect efficiency over time, especially inside older cast iron designs.

• Summer is the ideal time to refurbish original radiators, particularly in warmer cities like New York where heating is off for longer periods.

• Planning a renovation? Radiators are usually considered early in the process during first fix and plumbing layouts.

One final tip: bleeding radiators before autumn can help prevent cold spots and improve performance ahead of winter.

Whether you’re renovating, refurbishing or planning ahead, our team is here to help.

Visit our showrooms in 🇬🇧 Stockport and Chelsea and 🇺🇸 SoHo and Long Island and 🇵🇱 Poland, book a Home Heat Loss Survey, or arrange a 🚐 Radmobile home visit.

A coastal bungalow, beautifully reimagined 🌊

We’re honoured to see our radiators featured in this richly layered New Rochelle home by Nicole Fisher, a project that feels both intimate and boldly expressive.

Set within a 1914 bungalow near the Long Island Sound, the design preserves original architectural character while introducing a vibrant, pattern-led narrative. Think floral wallpapers, saturated colour, and tactile layering, all brought together with a confident, fashion-informed eye.

Spaces have been carefully reworked to feel more expansive, from the reimagined kitchen to thoughtfully composed living areas, resulting in a home that is as playful as it is refined.

The result is a jewel-box residence, warm, characterful, and unapologetically individual.

We’re incredibly grateful to be part of such a beautifully considered project.

Featuring Mercury 2 and 3 Column in Natural Brass, and Grace 6 Column in a custom RAL Ivory finish.

Case Study: Hillside Home, Shrewsbury, Vermont

This evening’s Sunday slow read. We’ll bring the warmth, you bring the tea.

Perched above 39 acres of Vermont landscape, owners Jeff and Gina set out to create a home that felt deeply connected to its surroundings. The result is a space defined by balance.

Natural materials, thoughtful craftsmanship, and expansive views come together in something that feels both grounded and quietly refined.

In a place where winter temperatures can fall to -23°C, warmth becomes something deeper than comfort. It’s elemental, and thoughtfully considered.

At the heart of their home are reclaimed Rococo window radiators, chosen as much for their story as for their performance. Originally cast in Buffalo, New York by the American Radiator Company, each piece dates back to the late 19th century. Restored in England before returning to the US, they carry over a century of design heritage with them.

In total, 123 sections have been reassembled and positioned beneath wide picture windows, where intricate cast iron detailing meets vast, open views. They deliver a steady, enveloping heat while quietly framing the landscape beyond.

For Jeff and Gina, it’s a full-circle journey. Radiators with roots in America, restored in England, and thoughtfully returned home, now part of a space designed for modern living in an uncompromising climate.

In Vermont’s stillness, these Rococo forms soften the edges, proving that practical elements can be just as beautiful as they are essential.
