Walk into a New York brownstone or converted loft and you’ll often find the same familiar silhouette beneath the window: a cast iron radiator.

During New York’s great building boom, manufacturers like the American Radiator Company supplied radiators to homes and public buildings across the city. Their catalogues showcased them not as hidden utilities, but as objects of craftsmanship, designed to be part of the architecture itself.

More than a century later, many originals remain.

If you’re local to Stockport you might have noticed a bit more goings on at the new shop, and if you’re not and you’re following along then here’s what we’ve been up to over the last couple of months!
After what felt like an eternity and waiting for quotes, the scaffolding finally went up! It’ll be a feature for a while whilst the outside gets some TLC.
Indoors however, that’s where the magic has been happening!
The ceilings came down on all 3 floors revealing small snippets of the past. Pottery, wallpaper and an original price tag, the dust was absolutely epic 🌬️

We uncovered more crumbly walls and rebuilt them again, removed a chimney breast and filled it in, in preparation for the relocation of a new staircase on the second floor, and finally, when the sun decided to come out again - Urban Roofing were ready to go and have started work on replacing the roof with new felt, batons and slates, alongside the existing ones that we can save.

Just like a home It’s hard not to think about the decorating at this point, it certainly seems like a long way off, but here’s to making the most of the longer days whilst they’re still around and planning for the next stage.

Almost a year after filming at Rodden Manor Mill in Frome, Somerset, we’re reminded how a restrained palette of natural materials can create extraordinary spaces.

What continues to resonate isn’t a single room or design detail, but the way materials work together. The cool, irregular surface of stone. The warmth and grain of timber. The quiet presence of cast iron.

Throughout the project, our Grace radiators in Grey Bronze sit comfortably within this palette, their textured finish complementing the character of the building and the natural materials that define it.

There’s an understated confidence in interiors like this. Stone, wood and cast iron, layered with restraint, creating spaces that feel considered, tactile and enduring.

A beautiful example of material harmony in one of Somerset’s most characterful conversions.

Looks like this glorious sunshine is here to stay for now and what perfect timing, as today we’re kicking off the first of our outdoor events for the summer ☀️

Find us today at the Royal Bath & West Show from 28–30 May, where we’ll be showcasing our handcrafted cast iron radiators alongside our premium skillets from our sister company,

We’ll also be exhibiting at the South of England Show from 5–7 June, so if you’re attending either event, do come and say hello.

Will this glorious heatwave last for our outdoor events this summer? We certainly hope so!

Please note the following closures on Monday 25th May:

🇬🇧 Our Stockport and Chelsea showrooms will be closed for the UK Bank Holiday.
🚐 The UK Radmobile will not be available for bookings.
🇺🇸 Our SoHo and Long Island showrooms will be closed for Memorial Day.

🇵🇱 Our Poland showroom will remain open as usual.

All locations will reopen as normal the following business day.
