Progress at Pittodrie Car Stadium.

We’re pleased to see movement on this important commercial redevelopment project at Merkland Road East, Aberdeen.

Following extensive fire damage to the existing buildings, this project presented an opportunity to completely rethink the site and create a purpose-built facility tailored to the client’s future needs.

The previous site had evolved over time through various extensions and differing building styles. The new proposal brings everything together into one cohesive commercial-scale building, helping improve both the functionality and overall appearance of the site.

This project also came with its challenges. Despite the clear benefits of regenerating the site and helping the business return to operation quickly, the planning process proved more complex than initially anticipated. We worked closely with the client throughout to navigate the approvals process and keep momentum moving forward.

A huge credit goes to Pittodrie Car Stadium Ltd for their patience and collaborative approach throughout the process. It's great to see the project progressing, and we look forward to seeing the new facility take shape.

Three individually designed plots, all with full planning approval - Inverugie, Peterhead.

Baxter Design were proud to be the architects behind the site’s layout and house designs, carefully considering the setting to create three distinctive homes within this sought-after semi-rural location.

A home that generates its own power.

Solar PV has been seamlessly integrated into this project, positioned on the garage roof to maintain the clean architectural form of the main house while allowing for easy access and maintenance away from the primary living spaces.

Careful consideration was given to orientation, ensuring the panels face the most efficient direction to maximise performance throughout the year.

The result is a system that supports long-term energy efficiency, reduces reliance on external energy sources and contributes to lower running costs, all without compromising the overall design.

Shaped around creating a functional and spacious family home, with large open-plan areas designed for entertaining while still allowing for privacy and everyday living. Generous room sizes, strong internal flow and a clear connection to the garden provided the client with flexible spaces to enjoy both social gatherings and quieter day-to-day living.

A key challenge early on was working through planning constraints, where previous permission had lapsed. By carefully navigating the process and refining the design, a solution was achieved that not only secured approval but was well received by the planning authority.

Great to see this one delivered on site at Blackhills, Peterhead by Kenway Homes.

Everyone at Baxter Design Company would like to wish Willie West all the very best in his last home game for Fraserburgh Football Club today before retiring at the end of the season.

We’ve been proud to sponsor him for many years.

He’s the most decorated player in the club’s history, holds the appearance record and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2024…. and recently had a stand at the stadium named in his honour.

Checking in on the progress of this garage conversion project while holding the pre-start meeting for Phase 2 — a rear extension to the property.

The garage conversion is progressing beautifully, thanks to the high-quality workmanship of BW Joinery Services Ltd. One of the greatest challenges with garage conversions is ensuring the new space feels like it has always been part of the original home. The newly added bay window achieves exactly that, blending seamlessly with the existing architecture as if it has always been there.

We’re delighted with how this project is taking shape and, most importantly, so are our clients.

Bringing a design to life : beyond the drawing board.

We were delighted to hear that Deer Heritage Initiative event to promote their ambitious project was a success! We created a 3D flythrough video to help transform their 2D plans into an immersive visual experience. By exploring the space virtually, everyone can better understand the layout, scale and atmosphere of the proposed design.
