Sarcococca confusa. One of my favourite shrubs - an essential for every garden! While this shrub may not look the most elegant, its tiny white flowers really pack a punch at this time of year and fill the garden with the year's earliest fragrance. A promise of what spring is about to offer! This shrub loves shade too so it is ideal for tucking into those darker corners of the garden. Better yet, place it by an entrance so you don't have to venture out in the January rain to benefit from its sweet scent.

It's time to prune climbing roses!

One of the most common issues I see with climbing roses stems from poor pruning and training. This normally results in upright stems with a flowers at the top and bare bases. If this is the case then they need training and pruning. Winter is the best time for this.
