The swallow; The epitome of the gentle transition between summer and autumn seasons….
You have to look closely, but just above the shed you’ll see the last few swallows gathering together on the line. They seem to like our cottage as a gathering place and come, without fail, every year to sit with us. It’s such an honour to see, it’s almost like you get to experience that sense of being among their community, listening in, whilst they melodically prepare to take their long journey somewhere warm. We have already had the larger groups gathering so perhaps these last little few had late babies and had to wait slightly longer for them to grow strong enough for their big adventure?
To me, these little birds are the happiest of all of birds, when present they always seem to be having the most fun in their large numbers swooping around with their House Martin pals, singing their cheerful chattery song. Thank you Swallows, you’re wonderful.. see you again soon xx
