Work in progress at Woodland, Ashburton.

We were asked to investigate and repair an area of penetrating damp at this property. The original sand and cement render was removed so we could properly assess what was happening underneath before applying a fresh finish.

Once the old render was taken off, we found that the older part of the property was stone, while a smaller section was a block work extension.

Because older stone buildings need to breathe, we applied a lime render to the original part of the house. On the newer block work extension, we used a waterproof sand and cement render, making sure each part of the property was treated in the right way for its construction.

The next stage is painting with a lime-based paint, helping to protect the finish while still allowing the older stonework to breathe as it should.

A good example of why investigation matters before carrying out repair work on older properties.

A 300-year-old bakery in Uffculme, carefully converted into a two-storey, one-bedroom annexe.

This building had once been part of local village life, before more recently being used for storage. It has now been brought back to life as a warm, character-filled home for the family’s parent, while preserving so many of the original features that make the building special.

From exposed beams and traditional details to a new kitchen, bathroom, staircase, flooring and living space, this project was about giving an old building a new purpose without losing its history.

We’re proud to have helped transform this former bakery into a space that can now be enjoyed by the family, and hopefully by further generations, for many years to come.

A big thank you to the family for being such a pleasure to work with throughout the project.

From old bakery to beautiful 1-bedroom, 2-bathroom annex.

Recent progress includes a bespoke under-stairs cupboard with custom-built drawers and doors, wardrobe doors routed for a more refined finish, and a bi-fold toilet door fitted to maximise the space.

The skirting boards have now been fitted throughout the first floor, while the click flooring has been laid across the ground floor. We’re also adding the final touches to the bathroom as the project moves closer to completion.
It’s great to see this conversion coming together!

Things really are starting to take shape now on our conversion of the old bakery in Uffculme. Kitchen is now in, tiling of fireplace surround complete, and all plastering finished!

Must have a drivers licence and own transport.
Work varies in location but is always within a 1 hour radius of Newton Abbot.
