Boiler kept locking out – and the customer had had enough. 🔥

Why they called us:
The existing boiler was becoming increasingly unreliable, with recurring heating issues causing frustration and concern about a complete breakdown.

What we found:
A severely blocked main heat exchanger was restricting circulation through the boiler. The cost of repair, combined with the age of the appliance, meant replacement was the most sensible long-term option.

What we did:
✅ Removed the old Baxi boiler
✅ Installed a new Viessmann Vitodens 100-W
✅ Added a magnetic system filter for ongoing protection
✅ Commissioned and fully tested the heating and hot water system
✅ Registered the boiler with a 12-year manufacturer's warranty

The result: The customer now has a reliable, energy-efficient heating system backed by a 12-year warranty, with improved system protection and complete peace of mind going forward.
A much cleaner installation and one less boiler to worry about this winter.

Customer got in touch after spotting water dripping into the cellar, turned out to be a pinhole leak in a central heating pipe hidden under the floor.

Water was dripping through into the cellar below, always a worrying one, especially when you don’t know where it’s coming from.

A small pinhole in the copper pipe on a bend. Easy to miss, but under pressure it was slowly leaking and tracking through the floor.

What I did:
• Opened up the floor to expose the pipework
• Cut out the damaged section
• Replaced with new copper and fittings
• Pressure tested everything to make sure it’s 100% sound

Result:
Leak fully sorted, system back up and running properly & no more water 👍

Constantly bleeding your radiators? This could be why.

Customer called because they were having to bleed the rads all the time and the heating just wasn’t right.

🔎 What I found:
• Partially blocked cold feed & vent
• System not circulating properly
• Magnetic filter fitted on the wrong pipe
• PRV discharge pipe not terminated correctly outside

👉 That blocked feed & vent was pulling air into the system, which is why they kept needing to bleed the radiators.

🛠️ What I did:
• Cleared the blockage
• Carried out a full service
• Moved the magnetic filter onto the return (correct position)
• Corrected the PRV discharge pipe outside

✅ Result: No more air in the system, radiators heating properly, and the boiler now running as it should.

Boiler completely down on a Saturday… but back up and running the same day. 🔧🔥

This Ideal Logic had completely failed, leaving the customer without heating or hot water.

After diagnosing the fault, it turned out the PCB had failed, which is essentially the boiler’s main control board.

Luckily I keep common parts stocked in the van, so I was able to replace the PCB there and then rather than leaving them waiting for parts.

✔️ Fault diagnosed
✔️ New PCB fitted
✔️ Boiler fully tested and running correctly

Another home with heating and hot water restored the same day.

If your boiler suddenly stops working, it’s often something that can be diagnosed and repaired quickly.

First year service complete ✅

This boiler was installed last year and today it had its first annual service to keep the 10-year warranty fully valid.

On a first service, I always:

• Check combustion with a flue gas analyser
• Heating system water quality check
• Clean the condensate trap
• Check expansion vessel charge
• Test safety devices
• Performance test & Check all radiators

Everything passed exactly as it should.

The most important thing?
Keeping that manufacturer warranty protected.

A boiler isn’t cheap and missing a yearly service can void the warranty completely.

If your boiler was installed last winter, now’s the time to get it booked in.

Water dripping through the bathroom ceiling is never a good sign.

This one was caused by a split plastic return manifold inside the boiler, a common failure on certain models. Once the casing splits, water leaks internally and can track down into ceilings below.

The boiler was isolated, drained down, and the failed manifold replaced with a genuine part. System reassembled, pressure tested, and fully recommissioned.

Leak resolved. Heating stable. No further risk of water damage.

If your boiler is: • Losing pressure
• Showing signs of leaks
• Or over 10 years old

It’s worth getting it checked before a small issue becomes a major repair.
