A landscaping project was undertaken to transform an overgrown and unmanageable garden into a serene and low-maintenance haven. The client envisioned a garden that required minimal upkeep, allowing them to enjoy their outdoor space without the burden of constant maintenance. The grass area beyond the existing decking had become overrun with nettles, making it difficult to manage and enjoy. The aim was to create distinct sections that would be both visually appealing and easy to care for.
The first step in the transformation process was to completely dig out the existing grass. This labor-intensive task involved removing the overgrown grass and turning over the mud to prepare the ground for the new design. A membrane was laid to prevent weeds from growing through the new sections.
The garden was divided into three separate sections using railway sleepers, which added a rustic and sturdy element to the design.
The first section was designed to serve as a pathway and relaxation area. Three tonnes of driveway stones were used to fill this section, providing a durable and attractive surface. Slabs were strategically placed to create a walkway that led to the raised flower bed, adding a functional and aesthetic touch to the garden.
The second section was dedicated to a new lawn area. Before laying the new turf, two tonnes of soil were added to ensure a fertile and well-prepared foundation. The fresh turf provided a lush, green space where the client could enjoy the beauty of a well-manicured lawn.
The third section focused on minimizing maintenance around the existing trees. One tonne of bark was spread over this area, creating a low-maintenance solution that suppressed weeds and provided a neat appearance. This section allowed the trees to thrive while reducing the need for regular upkeep.
This transformation was exactly what the client wanted, delighting them with the outcome and perfectly meeting their desires.
