Only 3 days this week due to the bank holiday and some delivery delays. The paved areas are almost complete ready for pointing and sealing. The garden is really starting to take shape now.

What a difference one week makes! We’ve completed the raised beds, boundaries and removed the various steps and awkward level changes through the middle of the garden. The structure for the new steps leading to the top of the garden are in place. Lots of mature trees, shrubs and perennials have been integrated or relocated to areas within the new scheme to ensure that no plants were harmed in the making of this garden. 😉

Next week we begin the paving of the entertainment and dining area of the garden. Here’s hoping for continued fair weather.

Our next garden makeover. An interesting and different challenge with this project. It is a very mature garden built for a different time when entertaining outside was not on the agenda. A complex set of level changes, steps and block paved circles make it a very interesting but far from usable space. This garden has wonderfully mature specimen trees, shrubs and perennials and so we intend to integrate these into a new design for this growing young family. The two principal areas will include a large paved seating and entertaining space (partially covered) and an adjoining lawned area. A space for children to play and the family to spend time together outdoors. Lots of newly demarcated areas to preserve the lovely planting whilst at the same time providing new levels for the lawn and paved areas to be installed. A new set of steps will provide access to the very top of the garden.

Access into the garden has presented the first challenge and so a substantial, bespoke ramp capable of supporting a micro digger into the garden has been essential to get the first phase of the garden work underway.

This stage is always messy but keep watching as we work this space into something more suitable for family and entertaining.

Very close to completing our second full garden renovation of the year.

A lovely newly landscaped garden with a secluded seating area, porcelain paving and fresh lawn to finish the space.

The last stage is to install the last section of top soil and the decorative aggregate around the house. Final photographs to follow soon.

A few more photographs as we near the end of this project. The weather over January and February has been a real challenge but the final result does look fantastic. It’s been a real pleasure to work on Helena’s garden with her and to bring her vision to life. Thanks for all the lovely home made cake - it’s kept us going through the cold and wet!

First stage of paving on our first full garden renovation of 2026.

This patio is flanked with a Venetian fence to create privacy and definition to the space. The porcelain paving has been bordered with charcoal pavers creating a lovely monochrome, modernist style.

More photo updates to follow as we install the curved path, smaller secluded seating areas and timber work. Looking lovely so far.

Another nice ‘refurbishment’ project today. Removed some rotten sleepers that were installed to retain soil from the upper level of this garden. The steps and handrail had also seen better days.

New concrete gravel boards installed to retain the soil from the upper level and new sleeper steps and handrail.
