Our speculative development of three modest rural properties in North Nottinghamshire takes inspiration from the surrounding agricultural vernacular. Set around a central courtyard, the design maximises the development potential of the site, providing two detached 2 bed dwellings towards the front of the site and a generous 3 bed barn-like home towards the rear.

A lovely site visit to .amongst.the.trees with the timber frame nearly complete. As the roof joists go on, you really start to get a feel for the spaces and start to experience the special moments created by framed views of the trees. The close proximity of the house to the trees creates a very immersive feeling and really embeds the house within the site.
Our clients .amongst.the.trees have been through a lot in the journey of building their own home so it’s great to see it all coming together.

We are very lucky to work with fantastic clients on some very special and unique projects. Our .amongst.the.trees project in Derbyshire is no exception. We met Chris and Kerry while exhibiting at Grand Designs in Birmingham in 2021. As soon as they described the site they had just purchased to us along with their hopes and aspirations, we knew it was going to be something special. Following a meeting on site, it was clear we were on the same page and shared the same vision and passion.

Fastforward a few years and we are delighted that construction is now underway with piling complete and pile caps currently being formed. The house is very much a 'self-build' project, with Chris and Kerry taking a very hands on approach.

If you'd like to follow the project and their journey through the construction of their new home, please give their page a follow - .amongst.the.trees

Our recently approved new home in Woodthorpe takes inspiration from the variety of architectural styles within the surrounding context. We have reinterpreted these vernaculars to give the new home a sense of the familiar within the established suburban setting whilst also creating a unique family home which is full of character!

More planning success! Delighted to have achieved planning permission from Gedling Borough Council for this split-level house on a steeply sloping suburban infill site in Woodthorpe. The design works with the site topography to create 3 storeys at rear with an upper floor lounge making the most of distant views and 2 storeys facing the street to respond to the scale of the streetscene. Key to this is a central 2.5 storey stairwell which provides the opportunity for interesting views and connections between spaces on different levels. The design exemplifies how you can create a new home which is full of character within a relatively modest footprint and in an established suburban setting. We're looking forward to getting started on the detailed technical design!

It was lovely to catch up with our client in Edwalton last week as their extension and renovation project nears completion. A lot of hard work has gone into this and it's great to see it paying off, this is set to be a very, very special family home.
