𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐌 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭

The worker fell from a ladder during works where a new staircase was to be constructed.

From the 1.65m fall, the worker sustained multiple serious injuries which required several surgeries.

The company was fined £24,000 after HSE's investigation found they had:

➡️ failed to implement a safe system of work for working at height during the construction of a staircase

➡️ wider failings in the management of working from height, including inadequate edge protection, incorrectly assembled tower scaffolds, staircases without edge protection, and uncontrolled use of ladders

➡️ previously been served with a Prohibition Notice for unsafe work at height

I've unfortunately seen these failings countless times on sites that I have visited over the years so it's very common but easily avoided/rectified when the dutyholders (that's YOU 🫵 by the way!) take the time to understand their roles and responsibilities.
