After 7 years of proudly providing security for the Torquay seafront observation wheel, we’re sad to hear the news that it will not be returning for the 2026 season.

It has been a pleasure to support such an iconic attraction on Torbay’s seafront and to play our part in helping visitors enjoy it safely over the years.

Like many, we know this will be disappointing news for residents, visitors and local businesses. The reality is that running attractions of this scale comes with ever-growing pressures, including rent and the wider costs involved in keeping them viable. Those factors have clearly played a big part in the decision, and it highlights how important continued support for local attractions and events is for Torbay.

A big thank you to our teams who have worked on the wheel throughout that time, often in all weathers, always representing us professionally.

While it will be missed, we’re proud to have been part of its story. 🎡💚

🚨 We’re Hiring. Enhanced Care Safety Officers (ECSO) – Torquay & Plymouth 🚨

This is not your typical security job.
This is about people, care, and control through communication.

As an ECSO, your role is to de-escalate situations, support vulnerable patients, and help create a calm, safe environment within healthcare settings. You’ll be trained to the highest level. Completely free.

💬 De-escalation is at the heart of what we do
You’ll learn how to:
• Reduce tension before it becomes conflict
• Communicate effectively with patients in distress
• Use calm, controlled approaches instead of force
• Keep both patients and staff safe at all times

👥 What we’re looking for:
• Available for a minimum of 3 shifts per week
• Confident speaking English
• Physically fit
• Flexible for days and nights
• Strong note-taking and attention to detail
• Caring, calm, and compassionate nature
• Full SIA licence

🏥 About the role:
You’ll be working closely with patients who may become distressed or aggressive. Your job is simple in principle. De-escalate, reassure, and protect. It’s about presence, patience, and professionalism.

🏥💙 Over the weekend, Platinum Security was proud to provide security support at Torbay Hospital while essential improvement works were carried out.

A major crane lift was another important step forward in the refurbishment and expansion of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) theatres, as part of wider improvements to facilities for both patients and staff. 🚧🏗️

Our team was on site to help ensure the safety and security of staff, visitors, and members of the public throughout the operation. 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️

We also provided patient transport whilst the main car park was temporarily relocated, helping to keep things running smoothly for patients and visitors throughout the works. 🚗💙

A big thank you to everyone who visited or worked at Torbay Hospital over the past few days. We truly appreciated your patience and understanding while the lift operation was carried out. 🙏👏

As most of you start to relax for Christmas we in the security industry continue workings hard protecting the public and venues, I’ve been out delivering Christmas cards to all our staff that go above and beyond to make this all happen.

Staff come and go but the staff I have around me today are truly the best most loyal hard working people around, THANK YOU
without you this would not be possible.

Our CEO and Area Managers were out today visiting sites, Our CEO spent time with staff and clients highlighting the importance of new equipment and technology we use making us the leader in the southwest.
